Update: Causeway reopens
By Times online staff
Published May 11, 2005
The drawbridge at the Clearwater Memorial Causeway has been fixed temporarily and traffic began moving freely across the bridge earlier this morning.
Officials say that because the fix is temporary, residents and commuters can expect bridge closings again in the near future as repairs continue. The 600-pound locking pin that holds the two spans of the bridge together has not been recovered from the water.
Meanwhile, boat traffic beneath the drawbridge has been restricted to smaller boats, according to media reports.
