Uber paper plates

Hefty, the trash-bag maker, has just introduced Serve 'n Store Everyday Plates, a line of superduper disposable plates that go from refrigerator to microwave to trash can. The plates have interlocking rims, so you can flip one over on top of another to use as a lid. With no apology to David Letterman, Hefty lists the top 10 reasons to use Everyday Plates. No. 10: "Less hassle and more time for family. The tableware creates convenience and saves time so you can spend time on more important things." Like compacting trash, perhaps? A pack of 24 9-inch plates is about $2.70.

IPOD EMERIL

Put some Bam! into your iPod with a download on celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse's Web site. The chef's weekly menu planner, complete with recipes, can be carried on your iPod along with your music collection. How handy when you're at the grocery store and can't think of what to make for dinner. CURRYING FLAVOR

Spice up broiled or grilled salmon or chicken by sprinkling curry powder on top before cooking. When used to flavor dips, soups or sauces, cook the powder first in a little oil or butter to release maximum flavors. Add chopped garlic and fresh ginger as you toast the powder for a simple curry paste that is fantastic in burgers, soups or dressings.

MINI SPINNING

For solo salad makers or for those with a closet-sized kitchen, the Swiss company Zyliss creates a small, sturdy salad spinner that makes the water fly.
