We're looking for something good to read at the beach, something good to read on a soft blanket, under an umbrella, on a languid June day when a heartbeat barely registers.
We want this good reading to come from you.
So we're holding a summer essay contest with cash prizes. Send us a true story about a memorable experience at the beach. You are allowed no more than 300 words. We don't even want to have to turn a page. We'll accept entries until June 6. Prizes for the top three entries are $200, $100 and $50. We'll publish the winners when it gets really hot out.
Mail to SUMMER ESSAY CONTEST, Floridian, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731, or e-mail to jbarry@sptimes.com
