Hot Ticket: Painterly expression in landscapes

Lush landscapes are painter Irene Salley's signature, a style many associate with impressionism, but her works are closer to the post-impressionists' bolder use of color and more expressive interpretations of trees, sky and flowers. They aren't Van Goghs, but they sure are pretty. See them at Alla Prima Fine Art, 695 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, through June 10.

Potters on display

The University of Georgia has an influential ceramics program, and works by three of its teachers are on view at Florida Craftsmen Gallery, 501 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Potters Ron Meyers, Andy Nasisse and Ted Saupe create vessels that engage, and in the case of Naisse's urn, above, flirt with us. The group show and a solo show by DeLand ceramist Tim Ludwig continue through July 9.
