NL: Padres ace Peavy dominates in battle of unbeatens

PHOENIX - Jake Peavy pitched a two-hitter for his first career shutout, and the San Diego Padres handed Brandon Webb his first loss of the season in a 10-0 victory over the Diamondbacks on Thursday night.
Dave Roberts matched career highs with four hits and four RBIs and Brian Giles and Ryan Klesko homered off Webb, helping take the suspense out of the matchup between young pitchers who entered unbeaten.
Neither Peavy (5-0) nor Webb (6-1) had a decision in two previous meetings this season. Webb gave up a season-high six runs, three earned, this time, capped by Klesko's two-out, two-run shot that traveled 408 feet into the rightfield seats in the seventh inning.
Webb allowed nine hits and three walks in 62/3 innings, striking out six.
Peavy, 24, struck out two, walked none and needed only 94 pitches (65 strikes) in his first career complete game. He pitched nine innings at home against Cincinnati on Aug. 11, 2003, but the game went 13 innings before the Padres won.
The Padres' three-run seventh didn't count against Webb's ERA because the inning started when third baseman Troy Glaus booted Damian Jackson's grounder. Jackson scored on Roberts' single, and Klesko made it 6-0 one batter later.
In the eighth, Roberts had a two-run double against Kerry Ligtenberg. It was his fourth time with four hits and third career four-RBI game.
The Padres added two runs in the ninth on Mike Koplove's wild pitch and Ramon Hernandez's sacrifice fly.
DODGERS 6, GIANTS 4: Pinch-hitter Ricky Ledee hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the ninth and former Devil Ray Antonio Perez hit a two-run homer among his career-high four hits and drove in three, leading visiting Los Angeles.
Eric Gagne converted his first save opportunity of the season by recording the final three outs, but he allowed consecutive doubles to Michael Tucker and Omar Vizquel. The right-hander hadn't saved a game since Sept. 26 in San Francisco. He spent the first 35 games this season on the disabled list with a sprained ligament in his right elbow and had made only four appearances.
The Dodgers avoided a sweep by snapping the Giants' four-game winning streak.
METS 12, MARLINS 4: Kris Benson won his third straight start, Jose Reyes hit two triples and visiting New York broke out of its slump.
The Mets were shut out in the last two games of their series in Atlanta and hadn't scored for 19 innings. They roughed up two pitchers who were called up Wednesday and finished with 14 hits, including six for extra bases.
Reyes leads the majors with seven triples. He also tripled twice May 18 against Cincinnati.
PIRATES 8, REDS 4: Oliver Perez continued his success against Cincinnati and got plenty of support from a balanced offense as Pittsburgh snapped a four-game losing streak.
Daryle Ward and Matt Lawton homered and Rob Mackowiak drove in three as the Pirates won for the seventh time in their past 10 games in Cincinnati and snapped the Reds' three-game winning streak.
ROCKIES 5, CUBS 2: Jason Jennings, who entered with a 7.05 ERA, allowed one run on seven hits in seven innings as visiting Colorado snapped a three-game losing streak. The right-hander walked two and struck out two.
