CRYSTAL RIVER - City Hall now has one fewer job opening.

On Thursday night, the City Council unanimously agreed to hire Mark Thiele of Clearwater to be the city's next finance director. Thiele, who will earn $50,000 a year, replaces Donna Kilbury, who resigned earlier this year.

Thiele is owner of Advanced Benefit Solutions Inc. in Clearwater and has served in various municipal government jobs in Collier County, City Manager Phil Deaton said. Thiele graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a political science degree and Arizona State University with a master's degree in public administration, Deaton said. "He had experience in local government and also extensive experience in financial management in both the public and private sector," Deaton said. Thiele's first day on the job will be Friday.
