Causeway closed today

By wire services
Published June 9, 2005

The Treasure Island Causeway will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. today so crews can pour concrete to seal the new bridge's bottom against water. No westbound traffic will be allowed past 79th Avenue on Causeway Isles; traffic will be detoured to Causeway Boulevard N or S. Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Paradise Boulevard, except for local traffic to the Treasure Island Yacht Club. Alternate routes to and from Treasure Island include: Madeira Beach Causeway to the north; and Corey Causeway in St. Pete Beach to the south. The bridge will be operational for boats that need an opening.
