Most of the big names in music on tour this year will make a stop in the Tampa Bay area this summer, if they haven't already.

We've been one of the first stops of the season in the past month for acts including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Carlos Santana and Velvet Revolver. On the horizon: Def Leppard, Dave Matthews, Toby Keith, Paul McCartney and many more.

A couple of the hot summer tours - the Zooma Tour, the Black Eyed Peas - never got off the ground. The Zooma Tour, which was to have featured Trey Anastasio and Ben Harper, didn't sell enough tickets; the Peas opted to tour with the Rolling Stones instead of solo.

And don't think of summer concerts as those between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Most of the tours do occur in June through September, but some summer tours extend into winter, i.e. the Rolling Stones, coming to Tampa on Oct. 16, and U2, performing a soldout show in Tampa on Nov. 16.

Here's a list of the biggest tours hitting these parts in the next few months, followed by some anticipated tours within easy driving distance of the bay area.
