Cross Bayou claims crown

Cross Bayou capped a stellar performance in the District 5 Tournament of Champions by claiming the major baseball title 4-3 over Southwest on Saturday.
Gregory Santos provided another top-notch pitching performance, striking out eight to earn the win. During the tournament, Cross Bayou pitchers allowed seven total runs through four games. Joshua Townsend provided the final push, hitting a two-run double with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run.
SENIOR BASEBALL: Emanuel Latorre was a one-man wrecking crew during Northeast/Meadowlawn's 7-3 win over Gulf Beaches. Latorre struck out nine to earn the win. He also hit a three-run homer in the first.
SENIOR A SOFTBALL: The District 5 championship between Seminole and Gulfport was postponed because of rain. The game will be rescheduled next week. The day and time were not available at press time.
