CURTAIN CALLS

ART CENTER THEATRE will have auditions on July 18-19 for Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers, the first show of the new season The cast calls for a male about 47 years old and three women of corresponding ages. Director Jackie DeTorres can be reached at 860-1976. The Art Center Theatre is in the Art League Cultural Center at County Road 486 and Annapolis Avenue, Citrus Hills. PLAYHOUSE 19 will have auditions for the September production of Cyrano starting at 6:30 p.m. June 26 and 7:15 p.m. June 27 at the theater, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. A large cast is needed for this musical comedy based on Anthony Burgess' adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. Director is Jacki Hull. Actors should be prepared to sing at least 16 bars of music; an accompanist will be provided (actors must bring music for the accompanist). A monologue is not required.

STAGE WEST COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE will have auditions for Alan Ayckbourn's Table Manners at 7 p.m. July 1, 1 p.m. July 2 and 7 p.m. July 6 at the theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. English accents are not required. Roles are for adults of various ages. Production dates are Sept. 8-25. The director is Madeline Child, 686-4975.

LOOK AHEAD

PATRIOTIC EVENING: The Independence Day tribute sponsored by Inverness Parks and Recreation and co-sponsored by the St. Petersburg Times Citrus edition will begin at 5 p.m. July 3 at Wallace Brooks and Liberty parks, along Lake Henderson in Inverness. The event features children's games, rides, food booths and displays, capped off by fireworks at dusk. Free admission.

DUCK RACE: Crystal River Rotary is sponsoring a Duck Race on July Fourth at Hunter's Spring Park in Crystal River. This new fundraiser will be a fun event for the whole family. The club's goal is to race 1,500 plastic ducks at 3 p.m. Ducks are available for adoption at $5 each or five ducks for $20. Duck adoption papers are ready at the following locations: Capital City Banks, Fancy's Pets, Key Training Center Thrift Stores, Military Outlet, Nature Coast Bank and SunTrust Banks. THE KEY TRAINING CENTER presents "Wish for the Stars," an evening of classic Hollywood glamor featuring Betty Atchison, a Cher impersonator. Her show, "Cher Through the Decades," will be the entertainment for the 23rd annual Run for the Money dinner auction July 15. The meal will be catered by Outback Steakhouse and will also include the Sonny and Cher impersonator dinner show as well as as live and silent auctions of items with a combined value of more than $15,000. Watercolor artist Anne Weaver will complete a painting during the event. The social hour and silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person. The event will be at the Citrus Spring Community Center. Call the Key Center Foundation at 527-8228. Proceeds are used to provide a broad scope of year-round, life-enhancing services to nearly 300 adults with mental retardation.

JAZZ ON THE GULF: The Hernando Beach Club will present a jazz concert featuring members of the Hernando Jazz Society at 6 p.m. June 26 at the club at 3145 Flamingo Blvd., Hernando Beach, which is in Hernando County. BAND SHELL BASH: The Hernando County Fine Arts Council will present a free concert featuring the Tampa reggae band Impulse from 4 to 8 p.m. July 9 at the Hernando Park band shell in downtown Brooksville. Call Pierre Desjardins at 848-0177 for information.
