LARGO - Pinellas County sheriff's deputies are seeking two men in the armed robbery of a Subway sandwich shop Thursday afternoon.

The robbers entered the restaurant at 7725 Ulmerton Road, Largo, about 1 p.m. One man, in his 30s, sat at a table while his younger companion approached a clerk and asked for a job application. The clerk did not have one, and the younger man then sat down at the same table as the older man.

About 30 minutes later, the clerk offered to take the younger man's name and number for a future job application. The older man then went to the counter to place an order. When the cash register was opened, he pulled out a black, semiautomatic handgun. Both men jumped the counter, ordered the employees to the floor and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and store safe. They then left the store on foot.

The older robber is white, 6 feet tall and 160 to 170 pounds. He was unshaven and was wearing a dark colored baseball cap, white T-shirt and blue jeans. The other robber was white, about 16 or 17 years old, 5 feet 8 or 5 feet 9, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark colored baseball cap, a white T-shirt and light colored shorts.

Anyone with information concerning these suspects was asked to contact Detective James Cavagnaro or Detective Skip Crandall at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
