Nurse arrested, charged with prescription fraud

HUDSON - A nurse working at a Hudson rehabilitation center was arrested Friday and accused of stealing medication she was supposed to give to a patient in her care.

Laura Diane Gray, 61, of Port Richey, was charged with prescription fraud and trafficking in Oxycondone, a powerful depressant and pain reliever.

Gray worked at the Windsor Woods Rehabilitation Center in Hudson. A Pasco Sheriff's deputy's report says Gray was working the 3 to 11 p.m. shift on June 12 and was entrusted with 22 Oxycodone pills for a patient. She is accused of forging papers to indicate that the pills were taken by the patient when they were not.

She was charged with trafficking because the amount of the medication that deputies say was taken was 12.1 grams.

The report states that Gray admitted to a detective that she had a drug problem and was too embarrassed to ask for help.

She was taken to the Central Pasco Detention Center and was still being held Saturday in lieu of $11,000 bond.
