INVERNESS - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office wants to take possession of a car that it says was involved in a drug case. According to papers filed in circuit court last week, the agency wants to seize a 1995 Honda Accord that belongs to Michelle M. McKay, saying the car was a "contraband vehicle" and thus subject to seizure under Florida's forfeiture law. McKay, 18, of Inglis was arrested earlier this month on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, a report said. She was a passenger in her car, which authorities say Michael Garrett Stegall was driving. He also was arrested that night on charges of possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of listed chemicals, possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information to a law enforcement officer and violation of probation, according to an arrest report. Sheriff's investigators received a tip that Stegall was using a beige Honda Accord as a mobile methamphetamine lab. After the Honda ran a stop sign at Cardinal Street and County Road 491, investigators stopped the car and found a methamphetamine lab inside, authorities said.
