TAMPA - JC Suarez, a rising senior at Tampa Catholic, has orally committed to South Florida.
Suarez, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound outfielder and pitcher, also considered the University of Tampa and Saint Leo.
"I wanted to go there because it's close to home," Suarez said. "It will give my parents and friends a chance to see me play, and I'll have a chance to play right away. They've been looking at me for awhile and I just wanted to get it out of the way and enjoy my senior year."
Suarez, a two-year starter who bats and pitches left-handed, hit over .400 and was 4-1 last season.
