Northwest had everything working in its favor during Wednesday's 10-3 win over Pinellas Park National in the District 5 senior baseball championship.
With momentum on Pinellas Park National's side after a 3-1 victory over Northwest on Tuesday, which forced the decisive game, Northwest starter Kyle Clements made certain there was not another letdown.
Clements shut down the Pinellas Park offense, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts to earn his second win of the tournament.
David Staton's run-scoring double in the second sparked a six-run rally, which was more than enough run support for Clements. Jeff Ballou and Clements added RBI doubles.
The win capped a solid tournament for Northwest, which earned back-to-back senior baseball titles over Pinellas Park National.
In five games, Northwest outscored opponents 40-11, thanks in part to a pair of home runs by Shawn Hinton and one by Tony Crevello.
Keith Staton and Michael Garrand each helped the offense, adding a pair of triples throughout the tournament.
MINOR SOFTBALL: Jenny Sittloh tossed a no-hitter in Seminole's 11-0 win over Gulfport on Tuesday. Sittloh struck out 11, and Sam Nowinski drove in a pair of runs with a single.
MINOR BASEBALL: Northeast No. 2 defeated Cross Bayou No. 2 17-0 on Tuesday in the All-Stars Tournament. David Rodica went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles and a triple. Ian Smith did not allow a hit in the rain-shortened game.
