New Port Richey starts the patriotic celebrations a week early with its Main Street Blast.

Felix Cavaliere's Rascals (Good Lovin', A Beautiful Morning) will headline the Rockin' By the River Concert in Sims Park on Saturday.

Main Street Blast activities go from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday with a community garage sale, classic car show, motorcycle ride-in, kids' games, food vendors, the Miss Firecracker Contest at 12:45 p.m., and the "country outlaw" band, Dixie Highway, at 1:30 p.m.

The Rascals concert is in the Sims Park amphitheater. Gates open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance (www.nprmainstreet.com) or $12 at the gate. Opening acts are Wiley Fox at 4 p.m., followed by Victoria K at 5 p.m. and Shaketown at 6 p.m. The Rascals band is expected to take the stage around 8 p.m.

A giant fireworks show at nearby Orange Lake (weather permitting) follows the Rascals' concert. Main Street Blast activities and the fireworks are free.

To reach Sims Park, take Main Street east from U.S. 19 in New Port Richey and go over the Pithlachascotee River bridge. The park is on the north side of the street. Parking is available around town.
