TAMPA - A woman who stopped her car to offer help to another motorist instead was punched in the face and had her car stolen Monday morning.

The 44-year-old Tampa woman was driving her 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis south on N Armenia Avenue about 5:30 a.m. when she stopped to help a woman standing in the road near a sky-blue sedan at W Clifton Street, according to Tampa police.

The woman in the road flagged down the victim, who got out of her car, police said.

A man walked up behind the victim, punched her twice in the face and knocked her to the ground, police said. The man got into the victim's car and drove south. The female suspect jumped into the blue sedan and drove away, too.

The female suspect was described between 25 and 30, with long, wavy blond hair. She was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt.

The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
