Tice fined $100,000 for scalping

EDEN PRARIE, Minn. - Vikings coach Mike Tice was fined $100,000 by the NFL on Thursday for scalping his Super Bowl tickets.
Running backs coach Dean Dalton and special teams coach Rusty Tillman were also each fined $10,000 for scalping their tickets. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue notified the three coaches of their punishment in a letter.
Tice has acknowledged reselling some of his personal allotment of 12 Super Bowl tickets last season and had also resold his tickets as a Vikings assistant coach from 1996-2001.

Ex-IOC member paroled
Former IOC vice president Kim Un-yong was released from prison after being granted parole and serving half of a two-year sentence. The 74-year-old was convicted in June 2004 of embezzlement and bribery in South Korea.
HOCKEY
Rychel's claim refuted
When former Colorado Avalanche wing Warren Rychel hurt his hand in a tussle and was no longer able make a fist, he tried to collect from his insurance company by claiming that fighting was part of his job.
Lloyd's of London didn't buy it, nor did a trial judge, and Rychel ran out of options when the state Court of Appeals refused to reinstate the suit, saying Rychel's professional athlete disability insurance covered only unexpected injuries.

SONICS: Extended qualifying offers were made to four restricted free agents, including key reserve forward Vladimir Radmanovic and starting power forward Reggie Evans . Ronald Murray and Damien Wilkins also got offers.
SUNS: Dan D'Antoni , older brother of Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni , was hired as an assistant coach.

CREW: Yale, Cornell and California advanced to the quarterfinals in the Temple Cup for student eights with victories at the Henley Royal Regatta, held at Henley-on-Thames, England. Cornell beat Abingdon School of England by a length, while California defeated the University of Durham, England, by four.
CYCLING: All 189 riders set to compete in this year's Tour de France were cleared to race after undergoing blood tests.
The 21 teams were tested over a two-hour period and no positive results were found.
TRACK: Maurice Greene pulled out of the 100 meters at the Gaz de France track meet with an injured hamstring in Paris. He was hurt in the 100 final at the U.S. championships last weekend and hopes to be ready to race again in three weeks.
BOXING: Former champion Thomas Hearns is planning to a return to the ring for the first time in five years. His opponent for the July 30 bout in downtown Detroit was scheduled to be announced today. Hearns (59-5-1, 46 knockouts) will fight on the same card as his son, Ronald Hearns, a 26-year-old middleweight who is 6-0.
PREP FOOTBALL: Walt Disney Co.'s ESPN main cable network will televise a high school football game on Aug. 27, the first non-playoff prep game it has shown since 1988. The game between Nease from St. Augustine, Florida, and Alabama's Hoover will be start at 11 a.m. local time at Hoover's Buccaneer Stadium.
WNBA: Nykesha Sales had 18 points in host Connecticut's 71-56 win over Minnesota. ... Alana Beard and Temeka Johnson led host Washington with 14 points each in a 65-50 win over Charlotte. ... Yolanda Griffith had a double-double for visiting Sacramento in a 61-50 win over New York. ... Seven San Antonio players had eight or more points in an 81-69 win over visiting Seattle.
