ST. PETERSBURG - Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. still plans to come to Fourth Street N, but instead of opening in the fall, it will be late in the year or maybe even early next year.
Spokesman Chris Arnold said Chipotle is opening 100 new restaurants this year. In January he said the chain hoped to have the restaurant open by fall.
"Every one we do gets scheduled in relation to everything else," Arnold said. "It just hasn't been scheduled yet for construction."
Chipotle plans to locate in a newly built shopping center on Fourth Street N between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Arnold said it takes several months for Chipotle to build out an interior for the restaurant, which will offer individualized tacos, burritos and burrito bowls.
Photographer to open new studio in Midtown
ST. PETERSBURG - Midtown's revitalized 22nd Street S will be home to a freelance photographer who is relocating from Tampa and plans to build a studio of contemporary design at 150 22nd St. S.
Jorge G. Alvarez, a commercial photographer for 25 years, sold his Tampa studio and is leasing space until he can get the new 5,000-square-foot studio built. It will face Central Avenue at an angle and be twice the size of what he had in Tampa.
The building will be two stories but have design features that make part of it look like it has three stories.
Among the amenities will be an available light studio on the second floor roof.
Alvarez said his recent work includes the cover photograph for the new book, Idiot, about Red Sox baseball player Johnny Damon. He also does fashion catalogs and advertising campaigns.
Fiorini opens second gallery, frame shop
ST. PETERSBURG - Fiorini Gallery and Frame has opened a second location at Crossroads Shopping Center.
It is located at 2060 Tyrone Blvd., across from Home Depot.
The original location is at 2435 Central Ave., an area in St. Petersburg that has seen a lot of development in the past few years.
The Central Avenue store will be used as space for artists and include a gallery and teaching center.
CLARIFICATION
Chef Paul Mattison sold Mattison's Bistro in St. Petersburg and moved permanently to Sarasota where he has several other businesses. Mattison, however, still does catering for clients throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. An entry in Neighborhood Times' business headlines in May was unclear on that point.
