Internet search topics show it's hurricane season

You can tell it's hurricane season, even without watching the weather on TV.

A check of topics Tampa Bay residents sought on America Online's Search between May 16 and June 15 has a definite stormy feel.

Among the "top-spiking" subjects, according to a survey released last week, were NOAA (up 59 percent), generators (up 58 percent) and hurricanes (up 31 percent). These were the search terms that had grown the most.

But the top five searches were something different. In order: Florida Lottery, Southwest Airlines, Home Depot, Wachovia and Wal-Mart.

The online service released the results as part of a summer search feature. Nationally, top subjects sought included Angelina Jolie (actor), the Dukes of Hazzard (movies), Big Brother (TV), Jessica Simpson (video) and Las Vegas (destinations).

The complete list can be found at hot.aol.com.
