Model train enthusiasts often recreate idyllic displays of days gone by, when locomotives were the primary form of transportation. Intricate displays like this one, and all the gear to create them yourself, will fill the Harborview Center in Clearwater this weekend as part of the Great American Train Show, a traveling exhibition based in Los Angeles.

The show will also have setups to play with for children and adults. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St., Clearwater. Admission is $8; children are free. 818 957-2031; www.greatamericantrainshow.com
