Man walking on roadside killed in hit-and-run

TAMPA - A 42-year-old Ruskin man was killed in a hit-and-run wreck Thursday on U.S. 41 after an automobile rammed into him and fled.

The man was walking and pulling a shopping cart in the outside northbound lane of U.S. 41 at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday when an automobile driving south struck him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle fled the scene.

FHP offered no description of the vehicle. Anyone with information can call FHP at 632-6859, ext. 340. The man's name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
