3 veteran dancers share their magic

Master classes beginning next week showcase artistry in hip-hop, ballet, Broadway, jazz and more focused at all skill levels.

George "Geo" Hubela is one of three professional dancers who will conduct master classes Monday through July 22 at Sell's Broadway Dance Company in New Port Richey.

The New York-based dancer has performed in movies and videos with Will Smith, Pink, Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson and choreographed for European pop stars Billy Crawford, Lorie and Nadiya, the Asian boy band Tension and the U.S.-based MTV show BeComing. He did two world tours with Jennifer Lopez.

Geo performed with Jennifer Love Hewitt at the 2003 Pro Bowl and with Lindsay Lohan in Times Square at MTV's Iced Out New Year's Eve 2005. He appeared in the Adam Sandler movie The Wedding Singer and the Freddie Prinz Jr. flick Boys and Girls.

Teaching ballet and ballet partnering will be Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre principal ballerina Maribel Modrono, a native of Cuba who trained at Ballet Etudes in Cuba and the School of American Ballet in New York City. She danced with the Fort Worth Ballet in Texas and the Miami City Ballet before joining the Pittsburgh troupe. She has danced the title role in Giselle, Kitri in Don Quixote, Odette/Odille in Swan Lake and in Madame Butterfly.

Rounding out the special faculty is Jenny Gruby-Field, who danced in national tours of Crazy for You and The Will Rogers Follies and will appear in the movie version of The Producers. Ms. Gruby-Field appeared in Crazy for You at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre in January 2000.

The sessions for advanced and professional dancers will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ($175) and will include master classes in ballet by Ms. Modrono, hip/hop and funk by Geo and Broadway/lyrical dance by Ms. Gruby-Field.

The beginner and intermediate sessions for ages 7 and older will be 1 to 3:30 p.m. ($100) and will include Broadway/lyrical and jazz by Ms. Gruby-Field and ballet by Ms. Modrono.

Special "Hip Hop Explosion" workshops taught by Geo will be July 21 and 22 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for beginner/intermediates and 5:30 to 7 p.m. for advanced/professional levels.

The studio is at 7296 State Road 54, New Port Richey. For registration, call 376-2600. Classes sizes are limited.
