DADE CITY - Pasco County sheriff's deputies say a 22-year-old man beat his live-in girlfriend last month after he had left their home due to a previous domestic issue with the woman.

Jose Cosme-Julian Navarro Jr. of Dade City was arrested Wednesday. According to a Sheriff's Office report, Navarro had left the Dade City home he shared with the victim, but returned June 24 because he still had personal belongings inside the home.

Around 7:45 a.m. on that date, Navarro awoke the victim, punching and kicking her head, face and body, deputies said. The woman sustained multiple bruises on her face, head, arms, legs and torso.

Navarro was being held Thursday in the county jail without bail. He faces charges of domestic battery.
