TOWN 'N COUNTRY - Deputies arrested a man Monday, accusing him of firing a gun at another man from his car.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said that at 1:15 a.m., 23-year-old Luis Rentas argued with a witness outside the witness' home at 6905 Clark Ave. Rentas then fired two shots from a 9mm gun into the air and drove off, authorities said.
A 26-year-old man followed Rentas in his car, trying to keep track of him so deputies could arrest him, authorities said. Rentas began shooting from the car and bullets struck the hood of the victim's car, authorities said.
Deputies arrived at Church and Idlewild avenues and arrested Rentas on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
7-Eleven manager robbed at gunpoint outside storeCARROLLWOOD - The manager of a 7-Eleven convenience store was robbed at gunpoint Saturday.
The Sheriff's Office said that at 11:18 a.m., the 33-year-old male manager walked out of the store at 7124 N Dale Mabry Highway carrying a deposit bag full of money. Authorities said a man started to fight him for the bag, and another man came from behind and held a gun to the victim.
The victim refused to give up the money, and the robber hit him with the gun, cutting the victim's eye, authorities said. The two robbers ran off with the deposit bag, authorities said.
The victim was taken to University Community Hospital-Carrollwood where he received stitches.
