Riding with the big dog

Ever wondered what you would do if you could have the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile for a day? Cruise around with your friends? Impress a hot dog-loving date? Do something good for your community? Well, you've got about 10 more days to figure it out and enter the Oscar Mayer Win the Ride of Your Life! contest. Through July 28, kids of all ages will have the chance to win the use of the Wienermobile for a day and up to $5,000. Twenty winners will get the top prize. YOUNG SCIENTISTS WANTED

If you could investigate anything about the universe, what would it be? Seriously, the American Association for the Advancement of Science wants to know, and the group has set up a Web site for kids. So log on and let the science society know what's on your mind. Submit your suggestions for the greatest unsolved scientific mysteries at www.eurekalert.org/scienceforkids/125th/

Yes, school is just around the corner. The folks at G4 Publishing, makers of the Family Planner, offers these tips for getting back in gear:

- Practice getting up early one week before the first day of school.

- Eat a healthy snack - fruit, fresh vegetables - before or during homework.

- Do homework right after school when the lessons are still fresh in your mind. Put completed homework directly into your backpack to avoid any missing assignments.

- Pick out school clothes the night before.

- Limit caffeine and sugar intake after dinner.
