ARIPEKA - Authorities on Tuesday continued trying to identify a man who was killed, wrapped in a carpet and dumped in a field off an isolated dirt stretch of Old Dixie Highway. Two hunters found the body Sunday.

The man had a head wound and likely was the victim of a homicide, Pasco County sheriff's officials say.

The victim was white, middle-aged and balding, with long gray hair on the sides. He was about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. He had no scars, marks or tattoos. But he was missing several teeth and had noticeable tooth decay.

Efforts to identify the body through fingerprints had been unsuccessful as of Tuesday evening.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jeff Bousquet at 1-800-854-2862, ext, 7841.
