LARGO - A 27-year-old Clearwater man who was charged last year with sexually abusing two girls at a slumber party has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.
Christopher A. Bird pleaded no contest last week to three charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and a single count of contributing to the delinquency of a child. Police arrested Bird in May after he brought strawberry vodka to the girls' sleepover and performed sexual acts with them. Both girls were under the age of 16. Bird had met one of them at a mall. The parents of the girl hosting the party were at work at the time, police said. As part of a plea deal, Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Linda Allan sentenced Bird to 41/2 years in prison, though he receives credit for the 421 days he has been in jail since his arrest. He likely will serve about three years in prison. After his release, Bird is required to register as a sexual offender and serve 10 years of probation.
