For 7 young women, it's a night to remember

The Krewe of the Knights of Sant'Yago is hosting its 33rd annual debutante ball this weekend.

Gowned and gloved in white satin and lace, seven young women will meet the Krewe of the Knights of Sant'Yago on Saturday night during the 33rd annual debutante ball at the Tampa Convention Center.

The men's club expects 400 guests at the black-tie ball, which will be decorated for "A Summer's Eve in a Mediterranean Garden," said chairman Knight Mark Caldevilla.

According to tradition, a junior attendant will present a bouquet of roses to her debutante. The deb will circle the dance floor as her resume is read, stopping to present a single stem to her mother. Fathers and daughters will waltz to Tales from Vienna Woods by Johann Strauss II, choreographed by Janet Bombard of Elsa Pardo dance studio.

Reigning royals, El Rey XXXIII John Madiedo and his daughter, La Reina XXXIII Mary Stella, will promenade in costume before dinner is served.

El Baron XXXII Michael Raymondo will be formally introduced and vocalist Roseanna Spallino will entertain.

Meet the 2005 Sant'Yago debutantes:

- Jessica Lee Barbas, daughter of Leeisa and Rex Barbas, attends Durant High School. She will be escorted by Carlos Francisco Barbas and attended by Sophia Alexandra Barbas.

- Mary Elizabeth Curry, daughter of Teresa and Squire Clifton Curry, graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names and works for the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. She will be escorted by Clifton (Trey) Conrad Curry III and attended by Allie Danielle Noriega.

- Summer Nicole Gonzalez, daughter of Sheila Taylor and David Gonzalez, graduated from Plant High and attends Hillsborough Community College. She works in emergency room administration at St. Joseph's Hospital. Her escort will be Christopher Rolando Rojas and her attendant will be Jenna Nicole Maceousky.

- Jessica Scarlette Gonzmart, daughter of El Rey XXIX Casey Gonzmart, the late Mary Lynn Jouridet, and stepmother Cindy Gonzmart, graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names. She attends HCC and works at the Columbia Restaurant gift shop. Her escort will be Steven Taylor. Her attendants will be Marlena Adela Gonzmart and Paige Lauren Leavey.

- Justina Bernadette Guggino, daughter of Squire Carmelo and Carol Guggino, graduated from Plant High and attends HCC. She works at Dillard's hair salon at the Westfield Citrus Park mall. Her escort will be Carl Guggino. Her attendant will be Ysabella Guggino.

- Francesca Louise Melli, daughter of Theresa Allred Melli, graduated from Leto High and works for Able Mortgage Funding. Her escort will be Barry Allred. Her attendant will be Elle Ocasio.

- Jillian Morgado, daughter of Sheri Stephens and Rex Morgado, is a graduate of Chamberlain High. Her escort will be Drew Anderson. Her attendant will be Ashley Yates.
