Festival returns with new name

Hispanic radio station WMGG-AM 820 revives its community festival under a new name and in a new location. Megaveraneo, with food, lots of Latin music artists, domino tournaments, volleyball and more, is in St. Petersburg's waterfront Vinoy Park from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults, free for those younger than 10.

Heat outside, art inside

Stroll in air-conditioned comfort among the works of 59 local artists at the Cool Art Show, the largest summer art festival in the area. Art includes photography, painting, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture and more. It's all in the Coliseum, in downtown St. Petersburg, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. "My Own Wife' opens tonight

I Am My Own Wife, Doug Wright's one-man play about an openly gay transvestite from East Berlin who manages to survive and thrive under the Nazis and the subsequent Soviet-communist regime, opens tonight at American Stage in St. Petersburg. The play won the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award in 2004. Mark Chambers stars in the American Stage production, which is the play's regional premiere. The show, which runs through Aug. 14, is at 8 p.m. today and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. $25-$32. (727) 823-7529.
