BROOKSVILLE - A Brooksville man was sentenced to two years in state prison Thursday in Circuit Judge Jack Springstead's courtroom.

Kenny Austin Carlson, 22, accused of carjacking and false imprisonment, got the carjacking charge reduced to aggravated assault as part of a guilty plea agreement.

According to a Hernando County sheriff's report, Sarah Foreman, 22, was sitting in her car at the Circle K on Deltona Boulevard in Spring Hill waiting for a friend on Jan. 8 at about 4:30 a.m.

That's when a man jumped into her car, the report said, and started yelling that he was going to kill her if she didn't drive.

Foreman drove southbound on Deltona, then northbound, then returned to the Circle K, telling her assailant she needed gas.

There, she got out of the vehicle and ran into the store, where clerks called 911. Carlson was arrested the next day.
