Judge rules against Clear Channel

A Hillsborough judge on Monday denied the owner of the Ford Amphitheatre its request for immunity from local noise regulations.

Hillsborough Circuit Court Judge Charlene Honeywell handed the people seeking to turn down the sound at the Ford Amphitheatre a major victory Monday when she denied Clear Channel Entertainment's request for immunity from local noise regulations.

Clear Channel, which owns the 20,000-seat amphitheater, is at the center of three lawsuits involving the noise issue.

The San Antonio-based company had sought to attach itself to the Florida State Fair Authority, which owns the land where the amphitheater is located. Judge Honeywell has ruled the Fair Authority has immunity, but Clear Channel does not.
