Cleanliness is next to . . .
DoItYourSelf.com/clean/
Greasy grime got you down? Stuck with unsightly tar? Then this is the site for you. It's a detailed step-by-step guide to cleaning more stains and dirt than one should rightfully encounter in a lifetime. Before you go barging in with the bleach, be sure to check out the Q&A section toward the bottom. For power-cleaning moves, dust off the Tips and Tricks section.
Looks good

Some info-nerds have made a nice little career out of showing people how to do better graphs. Here's a lovely romp through things that are both informative and functional. Yet, unlike much of today's technology, one doesn't get in the way of the other.
On the low end
www.lastminute-auction.com/
I have a friend who spends hours looking for low-cost eBay auctions that had typos in the titles, such as a "1.4Ghz PowreBook" for 99 cents. Now his job is easier. This site tracks auctions that are offered for a dollar or less and have less than an hour remaining. It seemed like mostly rubbish to me, but I'm notorious for paying close to retail for my "PowreBooks."
Swanky on a budget

If you have a company or a whizzy side business, you might be looking to polish your image a bit. Having the taste you do, you'll agree the clip art that comes with most drawing and word processing programs is just plain awful. And hiring a snappy design firm can cost thousands. Ah, but this site is packed with logos and Web page templates for almost any budget. Logos kick off at $29 (stay out of the Exclusive sections; they're more there), and Web templates are $25 and up.
Tweaker's delight

Windows XP, it seems, comes with a bunch of stuff that is tailored for faster computers. That's fine and dandy if you have one of those faster computers. If you're stuck with a clunker or hand-me-down, this guide could help speed things up. It's technical in nature, and some things, such as fiddling with the registry, are best left to people who know what they're doing. But other tweaks should be well within the grasp of most users.
