Pfc. Jonathan S. O'Connor, son of Judie and retired Col. Jack O'Connor of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and has reported to Fort Gordon, Ga., for satellite/communications training. He is a 2000 graduate of St. Petersburg Catholic High School and earned his associate's degree from St. Petersburg College.

Air Force Airman Patrick J. Walters Jr., son of Amanda Evans of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Marine Corps Pfc. Steven A. Grover, son of Steven A. Grover Sr. of Pinellas Park and Patricia M. Urban of Largo, has returned from Al Asad, Iraq, where he was deployed with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 4, which is based at Cherry Point, N.C.

Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Kyle A. Magenheimer, son of Babbette C. Gagnon of Treasure Island and Stephen K. Magenheimer of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J. He is a 2002 graduate of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.

Navy Hospitalman Apprentice William D. Owens Jr, son of William D. Owens of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1999 graduate of Lakewood High School.

Air Force Airman Christopher J. Papia, son of James L. Papia of St. Petersburg and Annette Papia of Tampa, recently reported for duty at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, where he is a security forces apprentice with the 8th Security Forces Squadron. He is a 2004 graduate of Northeast High School.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Kevin Smith, son of Johnnie M. Smith of St. Petersburg, has reported for duty with Sea Control Squadron 32, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville. He is a 1990 graduate of Lakewood High School.
