NEW PORT RICHEY - A 31-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges of trafficking in cocaine, a first-degree felony, after deputies found him in possession of a little more than an ounce of the drug, deputies said.

Yusef Mateek Wilson of 5518 Ridgewood Drive was on his way to Kash n' Karry at U.S. 19 and Moog Road to sell cocaine in a deal arranged by telephone with a deputy posing as a drug user in a narcotics investigation, a sheriff's report said.

Deputies stopped the vehicle in which Wilson was riding based on intelligence from the narcotics investigation and an improper lane change they observed, then they found the drugs.

When instructed him to get out of the vehicle, deputies said, Wilson "began to push and fight his way out of the vehicle. Deputies added a charge of resisting arrest.

Wilson remained in custody Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $6,000 bail.
