Citrus Park still perfect

BRANDON - Citrus Park's senior softball all-stars remained undefeated Sunday and reached the championship game of the Southern Region.
Citrus Park shut out Virginia 9-0 in the makeup game Sunday then blanked Georgia 5-0. The region tournament is in Ladysmith, Va. Citrus Park faces Tennessee at 10 a.m. today.
Danielle Chapman pitched a no-hitter against Virginia and struck out nine. Khrystyne and Katie Ely led the offense with a double each. Khrystyne also had two RBIs; Katie Ely and Katie Schafheimer each had one.
Alyesse Staph pitched four innings in the Georgia game and had three strikeouts.
JUNIOR SOFTBALL: After beating Windermere 4-3 in its final pool-play game, the Citrus Park 13- to 14-year-olds were eliminated from the state tournament, falling 12-0 to Eau Galie in the semifinals.
Against Windermere, Citrus Park trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh. Lauren Green, who walked with two outs, scored on an error and Mya Anderson then singled to center, scoring Erica Bowman, who also walked.
11-YEAR-OLD BASEBALL: Northside (Carrollwood) finished pool play undefeated with a 7-0 win over Pensacola. Coral Springs will be its semifinal opponent today at 5 p.m., with the final at about 8.
Tyler Koch yielded only one hit and struck out six. Justin Odom hit a two-run double and Taylor Griffie and Taylor Coffman had run-scoring singles
