Police identify Town & Country shooting victim

TAMPA - The man shot in the parking lot of Reflections Place Apartments in Town & Country on Sunday night was identified Monday as Lincoln G. Orellana, 20.

Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives are still investigating the shooting, which happened a few minutes past 7 p.m. at 5306 Reflections Place Court. Orellana lives at 5302 Reflections Place Court.

The motive remains unclear. But investigators say the suspect drove up in a white SUV with chrome wheels and tinted windows, shot Orellana in the upper torso and fled in the SUV, described as an older vehicle of unknown make and model.

A man who identified himself as Orellana's brother told a reporter Monday that the family does not want to comment.

FDLE records show Orellana has a string of misdemeanor and felony arrests dating back to July 2001, when he was 17.

In May of last year, Hillsborough sheriff's deputies arrested him on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, driving with a suspended license and operating an unregistered vehicle.

He was only convicted of driving with a suspended license, in a case last year in which he was found guilty and ordered to pay a fine and court costs.

Then last month, Tampa Police charged Orellana once again with driving with a suspended license, this time as a habitual offender.

Court records show he was to appear before Hillsborough Circuit Judge Ronald Ficarotta Aug. 9 on the third-degree felony charge.
