HUDSON - In the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store on U.S. 19 Tuesday morning, 44-year-old John Frederick Moote pointed a handgun into another man's face and told him he owes him money, Pasco sheriff's deputies said.

The victim told deputies that Moote is a drug dealer and the debt was for crack cocaine, according to an arrest report.

Deputies found a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol in Moote's possession later Tuesday, and he was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

He also faces charges of giving a false name to deputies, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, a violation of probation and a failure to appear.

Moote remained in custody Wednesday afternoon pending $18,500 bond.
