Fundraiser to help get technology to children

CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Tampa Bay Technology Forum hosts its annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Stumps Supper Club in Channelside. Join area techies and business people for beer, bands, barbecue and a silent auction.
Proceeds will go toward the TBTF's Computer-rific Program, which raises money and gets equipment, service and labor donations for computer labs at Boys and Girls Clubs in Tampa Bay.

Florist to continue providing staduim flowers
TAMPA - For the second year in a row, Buds, Blooms and Beyond florist and gift shop has been selected to provide floral arrangements for the Raymond James Stadium concierge counters, club levels and owner's suite.

Tampa 11-year-olds win invitational tournament
TAMPA - The Tampa Cannons baseball team won first place in the Tournament of Champions invitational in Aberdeen, Md.
The Cannons, made up of 11-year-old players, joined 16 teams from around the country and won seven straight games. They beat the home team, the Maryland Orioles, 9-6 in the final game. Lance McMullers threw a complete seven-inning game, and Vincent Leto hit 3 out of 4, scoring three times to receive the Championship Games' Most Valuable Player.
Averaging 12 runs per game, the Cannons hit .405 as a team. Luke Helms led by hitting .524 for the tournament.
The Cannons also placed fifth in the recent Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Nationals, competing against 80 Division 1 teams from around the country at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
Get information on adopting in China
ST. PETERSBURG - Chinese Children Adoption International (CCAI) will hold an informational seminar from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the North Branch Library, 861 70th Ave. N in St Petersburg.
The group encourages anyone interested in adopting a child from China to attend the meeting.
Since 1994, the agency has placed more than 5,200 Chinese children in loving homes, including about 60 in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
