Gov. Jeb Bush has reappointed William Bunch of Crystal River and appointed Sam Lyons of Hernando Beach to serve on the Coastal Rivers Basin Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
The board represents portions of Citrus, Pasco and Hernando counties. Basin boards work with local governments on water resource projects that affect the community.
Bunch, who owns Oyster's Restaurant in Crystal River, was initially appointed to the board in March 2002. Lyons is a former member of the Withlacoochee River Basin Board. Terms end on March 1, 2008. Basin board members are unpaid volunteers who are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate.
In separate action, the board announced Tuesday that it intends to keep its current millage rate, 0.235 mills, for the 2006 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1. The 2006 budget is $8.2-million, an increase of $2.1-million.
The board's budget includes funding for the construction of the U.S. 41 S Service Area Reuse System, which is expected to provide 200,000 gallons of reclaimed water each day for the golf course, common areas and residences at Southern Hills Plantation on the south side of Brooksville. The budget also includes $1.4-million for water supply and resource development.
