Thousandsof Tampa Bay area residents know the way to temporarily beat the heat: Think snow. The area's ski clubs are already holding their organizational meetings for the coming season. Here is a look at what the clubs plan, membership dues, if any, and upcoming activities:
- The Clearwater/St. Petersburg Ski & Sports Club will hold its organizational meeting and discuss membership and this season's trips at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bascom's Chop House, 3665 Ulmerton Road, between Feather Sound and 49th Street N, Largo. The club, whose members call themselves the Snow Sharks, will take trips to Colorado resorts and to Quebec City.
The club also plans to camp at Fort De Soto Oct. 21-23. There will be a picnic, bicycling and inline skating.
Annual membership is $25 for one adult, $35 for a household, free for children younger than 18. The Snow Sharks meet on the second Tuesday of each month, from August through May.
