Man faces charges for activities with teens

Deputies say he molested one of the boys he often entertained.

PALM HARBOR - Charles S. Nagle's home on Peterborough Court became a neighborhood hangout for teenage boys where they could drink alcohol and smoke marijuana, authorities said Wednesday.

But the single-story home was also a place where Nagle, 35, molested one boy and masturbated in front of others, they said.

"He was just an acquaintance to the teens, somebody they knew from the neighborhood," said sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner.

Nagle of 2686 Peterborough Court was arrested Tuesday on charges of molestation, lewd or lascivious exhibition and contributing to the delinquency of a child. He was being held in Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Investigators first learned of the abuse in September 2004 but think it dates back as far as two years earlier, Bordner said.

One night in 2002, Nagle invited a 14-year-old to "hang out" and gave alcohol to the boy, who became intoxicated, according to an arrest warrant. Then Nagle performed a sex act on the teen, the warrant states.

Nagle later showed a pornographic video to the boy and two others and encouraged them to masturbate along with him, Bordner said.

Nagle also offered the boys $20 to perform a sex act on him, the warrant states. According to one of the victims, it was an offer Nagle had often extended to them.

Records show Nagle has previously been arrested on a charge of marijuana possession, to which he pleaded no contest.
