WEEKEND COLLEGE: The Central Florida Community College campus in Lecanto will offer Weekend College beginning Aug. 27. The five courses offered in the pilot program are accelerated financial accounting, college algebra, general psychology, microcomputer applications, and college and career success. Deadline to apply for the fall 2005 semester is Wednesday. The last day to register for Weekend College is Aug. 19. For a complete schedule of courses or for more information, call the Citrus County campus at 746-6721.

COMPUTER CLASSES: The Central Florida Community College campus in Lecanto is offering several computer classes for the general public. For students with basic computer knowledge, the Computer Concepts course will introduce the computer control panel, Windows views, toolbars and file manipulation, computer applications, installing and removing software, the Internet, different mail applications and attachments. Computer Concepts is 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Tuesday through Sept. 9. The course costs $55.

The CFCC Citrus fall computer class schedule includes an introduction to computers class beginning Aug. 20, and courses on the Internet, computer maintenance, digital imaging, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH AND BREAKFAST PROGRAMS: Students in public schools and participating private schools eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch must apply each year to receive benefits. Household size and income criteria determine eligibility. Foster children may receive benefits based on the child's income alone. Applications were mailed to all public school families and must be returned to food services at 1007 W Main St., Inverness. Call 726-1931, ext. 2429. Students attending private schools can call the schools for application information.

MINI-GRANTS FOR TEACHERS: The Southwest Florida Water Management District is accepting applications for its mini-grant program. Teachers can receive funds for classroom projects on water quality, conservation, alternate water sources, water supply, flood protection or watersheds. The mini-grants are available for public, private, charter and home school groups up to $5,000 on a reimbursement basis. Applications are at www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/ Deadline is Monday.

SAEC MEETING: Crystal River Middle School will hold its first School Advisory Enhancement Council meeting for the school year from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the upstairs administrative conference room. Officers will be elected. This year's meeting dates will be Oct. 13, Nov. 10, Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 9, April 13 and May 11. The meetings are open to the public.

LEARNING CENTER: The Community Learning Center of Citrus County is available for one-on-one and small group tutoring, FCAT practice and homework assistance. Students must register to attend, and space is limited. Call 560-0000.
