LAKE MYRTLE ELEMENTARY: Open house, 6 to 6:45 p.m. Aug. 18 for primary grades; 7 to 7:45 p.m. Aug. 18 for intermediate grades.
LAND O'LAKES HIGH: Open house, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24. There are five openings for the parent representative on the school advisory council. Nominations are open from Aug. 16 to 24. Yearbook photos will be taken on Aug. 26 for freshmen, Aug. 27 for IB students. W2HOME, a support group for homeschoolers, meet the first and third Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall in Dade City.
4-H-All Creatures Great and Small is a Homeschool 4-H Club that meets from 2 to 4 p.m. the second Friday of each month at Clayton Hall at the Pasco County Fairgrounds on State Road 52 in Dade City. Enrollment is $6 per child .
Creative Hands Enrichment Center is offering classes in art, cooking, sewing and clay for homeschoolers starting in September. Classes are held in the Ministry House at First Baptist Church of Lutz, 18022 U.S. 41 N and Crystal Lake Road. Classes are taught by Lynne Brown and Chris Giordano. COMMUNITY
The Wesley Chapel High School Wildcat band will host an indoor garage sale Aug. 20.
Teens who are thinking about a career in business, social work or medicine might consider volunteering for Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Volunteer opportunities are available for ages 14 and older at the Hospice Thrift Store and More, 6540 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey, and the Hospice Thrift Store Outlet, 4422 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Computer savvy students who can help with computer or other office projects are also needed. Teens 16 and older can serve as patient support volunteers, visiting patients, reading to patients or helping with journaling or letter writing at Marliere Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey or at the Hospice House in Hudson.
