Birthday party-poopers.
Special birthday freebies at some restaurants, from steak dinners to sundaes, have a big appeal to many, but to avoid pitfalls call to make certain the offer is still on and check the hours, prices and proof required (driver's license? birth certificate?). Get a manager's name. Double-check when you arrive before you sit down. Otherwise, your festivity may end in an argument about stinginess instead of generosity.
