Jenna Taylor, Valrico

Jenna, 16, won the Florida Junior Golf Association State Team Championships July 9-10 at the Eagle Pine Golf Course at Walt Disney World. Eight teams qualified for the title tournament. She shot 80-80 for the 36-hole tournament. Her teammate from Manatee, 17-year-old Gennifer Garrison, shot 75-74. On June 28, Jenna won the silver medal in the First Tee Golf Tournament at the Westchase Golf and Country Club. She is a junior at Newsome High, where she is a starter on the girls golf team.

Johnny Douglas, Brandon

Johnny, 14, won the individual national championship for race walking at the AAU National Club Championships in Orlando in July. He is a first-year member of the Seffner Track Club and was competing in the 3,000 meter race-walk for the first time. His winning time was 23 minutes, 2 seconds. Douglas is a freshman at Riverview High.
