PERFORMING ARTS
CENTENNIAL OPERA GROUP will show a video of Antonin Dvorak's Rusalka at 12:30 p.m. today at Centennial Park Library, 5740 Moog Road, Holiday (1.2 miles east of U.S. 19). The opera is based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, but with a different ending.
THE COMEDY-FARCE "NO SEX, PLEASE, WE'RE BRITISH' continues through Sunday at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Shows are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. THE "BACK TO SCHOOL BASH' concert tonight at Bourbon Street Concert Club will feature three Florida bands: Hudson-based Tator Junktion at 9 p.m.; Land O'Lakes' D.C. North at 10:15 p.m.; and Tallahassee's Core as the closing act. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. The bands, whose members are mid teen through adult, play rock, pop and punk. The show is suitable for all ages .
THE REGGAE BAND TRINITY 7 and calypso artist Lord Saint will perform from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Brooksville Bandshell Bash at the Hernando Park Bandshell one block north of the courthouse in downtown Brooksville. A DVD OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN'S "THE GONDOLIERS' will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Leepa Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Road, Tarpon Springs (a quarter-mile west of U.S. 19 on the St. Petersburg College campus). Admission is free. The museum itself will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with free admission.
THE CLASSICS golden oldies rock band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Beach Concert on Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs. The intermission features kids' games with prizes. Take blankets, chairs or loungers for seating. A refreshment wagon will sell hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, soda and water. Admission and parking are free.

The paintings are of environmentally protected lands. JERRI SOLICITO's ARTWORK created from bird feathers arranged on canvas continues through Aug. 31 in the Upstairs Gallery at Pasco Arts Council's art center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. Also in the exhibit are watercolors, oils and charcoals done by Leonard Solicito. Most of the works are for sale. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

ARTS IN MOTION community youth theater arts education group will hold auditions for the musical The Wizard of Oz from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Alliance Church, 6251 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills just southwest of the U.S. 301/State Road 54 bypass intersection. Those who audition should prepare a song and bring an accompaniment CD and also be ready to do a cold reading and repeat simple dance moves. ALLTEL'S "A NIGHT IN THE TROPICS' will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Aug. 19 in downtown New Port Richey. The evening includes live Latin music, street performers, a custom and classic car cruise-in, arts and crafts vendors, and food and beverages. The Caribbean Chillers, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, will perform in Cavalaire Square.
JOHNNY MAESTRO, TERRY JOHNSON'S FLAMINGOS (I Only Have Eyes for You), the Crests featuring Tommy Mara (16 Candles) and the Marcels (Blue Moon) will perform Richard Nader's Evening of Solid Gold at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at F.W. Springstead High School Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. There will be a tailgate party and classic car display at 5 p.m. Show tickets are $29 and $34.50, plus handling charge through TicketMaster for regular seating.
