The buzz

WHO'S HOT?>
Every NFL player who isn't holding out. Thanks for honoring your contracts and acting like normal human beings, gentlemen.
WHO'S NOT?
The Sporting News. In ranking the greater Tampa-St. Petersburg area No. 388 on its list of the best sports cities (I think we actually finished behind Waldo, but I'd have to double-check), the once well-respected magazine showed an incredible amount of ignorance. Good thing for us very few people saw that issue. (Note to readers: I have no numbers to back up that last statement, but it sounds good.)

WHINE OF THE WEEK
"Can you condemn Selig for baseball's steroid scandal? No. The owners bargained away much of the commissioner's power in the 1970s and '80s. Selig is right: Even legendary commissioner Kenesaw "Mountain" Landis, who banned eight "Black Sox' players for life following the 1919 game-fixing scandal, would have appeared just as powerless as "Bud Lite' against the steroids onslaught."

WEEKLY MEMO
To professional golfers everywhere: There's no law that says you have to button your shirts all the way up to the top. Any chance Queer Eye for the Straight Guy has a day or two open to help these guys out?
FINAL THOUGHTS
Sure am glad Tiger Woods made the cut at the PGA Championship even though it means having to listen to his dingbat caddie another two days.
