Aquatic center open for aerobics, laps, family time

SEMINOLE - The Seminole Family Aquatic Center, 9100 113th St. N, is offering water aerobics at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Cost is $3 a class. For those interested in swimming a few laps for exercise or taking a dip on a hot day, center hours are 7 to 10 a.m. for laps and exercise, noon to 4 p.m. for open swim, and 5 to 8 p.m. for family swim Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The aquatic center is also open from noon to 4 p.m. for open swim and 5 to 9 p.m. for family swim Tuesday and Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
A family pool party, "Seminole's Family Feuds," will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 17. Fee is $5 a family. Participants must have a recreation card or be a guest of a member. Families will compete with one another in glow-in-the-dark volleyball, water basketball, Scategories and water relay games and races. For information, call 397-6085.

The ninth annual Music in the Park series of Friday evening concerts will begin Sept. 9 with big band sounds by the Dan McMillion Jazz Orchestra. The free concerts are held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road. Future concerts include:

Guests are encouraged to bring infant care items to donate for the "Diaper Drop and Teddy Bear Boogie." The event will celebrate adoptions, encourage foster care, support infants in shelter care and recognize special babies at All Children's Hospital.
