The District Monitoring and Advisory Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in Room D134-135 of the Largo administration building, 301 Fourth St. SW. Call James Madden, director of unitary status implementation, for information at 588-5186.

The postmark deadline to register for the next ACT test is Friday. College-bound seniors who wish to take the Sept. 24 test can pick up forms in guidance counseling offices at their high schools or register online at www.actstudent.org

There is an extra fee for late registrations, which will be accepted if postmarked by Sept. 2. The cost is $29 for the traditional ACT, and $43 for students who take the optional writing test.

Students are encouraged to check with their prospective colleges to see if they require the writing portion.

The next national date for the ACT is Oct. 22; students must register by Sept. 16.

The Blueprint for Success Family Conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 at Bayside High School, 14405 49th St. N, Clearwater.

The free event is focused on understanding the needs of children and young adults with disabilities.

Workshop topics will include behavior and social skills, transition, conflict resolution, autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and assistive technology.

Licensed psychologist Dr. Steven P. O'Brien will give the keynote address. Lunch will be provided and a free fun camp for children will be offered. Register by Monday by calling. For information, call the Family Network on Disabilities at 523-1130 or toll-free 1-800-825-5736.
